External Soil Data

Description:

This section provides links to websites from where soil related datasets at Global Scale, National Scale and Regional scale could potentially be accessed and/or downloaded. According to INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) principles, public users should be provided with easy access to datasets at European, National, Regional and local level. In this spirit, European Soil Data Center (ESDAC) identifies relevant data sets in the World, in many European Countries, in Regions and the modalities for accessing them.

  • Global Data: Download the The Harmonized World Soil Database, Access the GLOBAL soil datasets (available from the US ORNL Distributed Active Archive Center), Access the Global and Regional datasets (co)developed by ISRIC
  • Soil Databases 1:250.000: The Suitability of the 1:250,000 Soil Database has been shown by a number of applications which have already been made in different European countries: Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Italy. Currently, Slovenia and Ireland are developing their Soil Databases at scale 1:250:000 and the results will be available soon.
  • National Data: This section provides links to websites from where soil related datasets at national level could potentially be accessed and/or downloaded. JRC and ESBN members are jointly identifying relevant data sets in Europe and the modalities for accessing them. For the time beeing, around 20 National Soil Datasets have been identified and proposed in this page. Countries such as Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic , Denmark, England-Wales , Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Malta, Netherlands Norway, Slovakia have contributed to this Inventory.
  • Regional Data: This section provides links to websites from where soil related datasets at regional level could potentially be accessed and/or downloaded. According to INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) principles, public users should be provided with easy access to datasets at European, National, Regional and local level. For the time beeing, around 20 Regional Soil Datasets have been identified and proposed in this page. Regiona that have contributed in this inventory: Flanders - Vlaanderen, Rhône-Alpes , Lower Saxony , Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia , Schleswig - Holstein , Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Emilia-Romagna , Abruzzo , Basilicata, Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia , Piemonte , Veneto, Tuscany, Lombardy. Regions are welcomed to contribute to this inventory by communicating Panos Panagos about their Soil Data holdings.
