Expert – Agriculture and Agro-Ecological Systems – Contract Agent (FG IV)

Covering roughly half of Europe’s land territory, agro-systems have a substantial impact on biodiversity and landscape amenity value, soils, water and air quality – at large, on ecosystems and their services. Agriculture is also to be seen in the context of impacts from climate change – as well as its role in contributing to carbon balances and respective land use change. This complex aspect of sustainable land use management is becoming an essential part of the environmental policy for Europe, under stronger sustainability objectives in the face of increased demands for food, feed, fibre and bioenergy.
