Soil function data measured in LUCAS 2018 sites across the EU

In the LUCAS 2018 survey, soil functions have been measured in the 881 sampling sites selected for the soil biodiversity assessment across Europe. These soil functions include * soil aggregates (i.e., mean width diameter and water-stable aggregates), * enzyme activities, * microbial respiration and biomass, and * measurement of ester-linked fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs).

Description

Soil functions data for 885 samples (881 sites) from LUCAS 2018 are available as a CSV file that comes together with a metadata PDF file. You may preview the metadata file to find a description of these data.

Title: Soil functions data for 885 samples
Description: mean width diameter, water-stable aggregates, water holding capacity, activity of 5 enzymes (i.e. Xylosidase, Cellulase, N-Acetyl-Glucosaminidase, Beta-Glucosidase, Acid-Phosphatase), basal microbial respiration, microbial biomass, respiratory quotient measurement of ester-linked fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) for Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and total bacteria, fungi, actinobacteria, total, saturated and monosaturated FAMEs.
The dataset includes additional measurements used to calculate some of the properties listed above. Physico-chemical soil properties have been published separately (see Related Datasets). These data are accompanying the topsoil data and the corresponding report describing the LUCAS 2018 Soil Module.

Spatial coverage: European Union plus UK.
Format: CSV (LUCAS_2018_soil_functions) + PDF file (LUCAS_2018_soil_functions_METADATA)
Temporal coverage:  2018.
