  1. The data provided has been prepared for use by internal research activities in European Soil Data Centre (JRC Ispra) in collaboration with external organizations as documented in the associated publication.
  2. The data were developed for research purposes of the JRC (European Commission). The JRC does not accept any liability whatsoever for any error, missing data or omission in the data, or for any loss or damage arising from its use. The JRC agrees to provide the data free of charge but is not bound to justify the content and values contained in the databases.
  3. The permission to use the data specified above is granted on condition that, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are these data passed to third parties. They can be used for any purpose, including commercial gain.
  4. The user agrees to:
       a) Make proper reference to the source of the data when disseminating the results to which this agreement relates;
       b) Participate in the verification of the data (e.g. by noting and reporting any errors or omissions discovered to the JRC).

 

 

The data come as diffractograms. (a number of .dat files per sample) and an Excel file that contains a number of properties per sample, and a shapefile that indicates the position of the samples.

Diffractograms: all datafiles for 383 samples have been zipped into: XRD_diffractogrammes-LUCAS-2015-for-ESDAC

The Excel file: XRD_FYM_06052024-for-ESDAC:

  • the field Point_ID contains the official and unique LUCAS point ID 
  • the field 'Sample ID' allows to find the corresponding data Diffractogram data files 
  • the fields 'S' to 'Wed' are explained in the report on p 58 in the list of abbrevations

The Shapefile XRD_LUCAS2015: contains all locations of the 383 analyzed samples; the attribute table contains the Point_ID for the location and also the theoretical LUCAS coordinates to which the samples refer.

Purpose The data will be used for academic research at Zhejiang University to investigate how soil mineralogical information derived from X-ray diffraction can improve soil property prediction using visible–near-infrared spectroscopy. We plan to link the XRD subset with LUCAS 2015 spectral and soil property data and explore mineralogy-guided multimodal learning and knowledge distillation. The data sources will be properly acknowledged, and all use will comply with the dataset terms.
