Main objectives

To provide support to the Clean Soil Outlook Report and to investigate a contribution to the Zero Pollution Monitoring Report. Additionally, TWG will also help to incentivise stakeholders' engagement, to support enhanced soil literacy and to collect feedback.

The Clean Soil Outlook Report will analyse synergies and trade-offs between different EU policies, help translate ‘early warnings’ into recommendations on pollutants of increasing concern based on the latest research findings.

TWG Meeting

• Tasks of the Technical Working Group in providing support to the Clean Soil Outlook:To contribute as a group to the CSO building on the Clean Soil Monitoring Report;
• To analyse synergies and trade-offs between different EU policies concerning EU soils.
• To identify data and knowledge gaps;
• To refine the Table of Contents of the CSO;
• To discuss the point and diffuse pollution related issues;
• To reflect on and to create the Watchlist;
• To produce and to put together contributions from stakeholders
• To contribute to the First Draft of the Clean Soil Outlook by June 2022;
• To revise the final draft of the Clean Soil Outlook by the end of 2022.

TWG Meeting

16 February 2022

The first session 10:00 – 12:00 will focus on the contaminated sites. Specifically, on whether the EU will be able to meet on the targets of the EU Soil Strategy for 2030 related to point-type source pollution.

The second session 14:00 – 16:00 will focus on the diffuse pollution aspects and whether the EU is able to create a toxic-free environment.
